Pak Steel awarded AIC for electrical and automation equipment contract of its new rebar mill to be installed in Pakistan

On September 9th 2021 at Islamabad, Automazioni Industriali Capitanio (AIC) and Pakistan’s Pak Steel formally signed their collaboration for made possible a new 450,000 tons rebar mill, in presence of Mr. Taimur Khan Jhagra, Minister of Finance KP and Mr Andreas Ferrarese, Ambassador of Italy.

The entire project will be settled by supplying the advanced automation and high-quality electrical equipment for efficiently controlling the Pak Steel’s plant in the Hattar Special Economic Zone (HSEZ) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The site reinforcement will be concretely obtained owing to a brand-new power control system empowered by Siemens motors and regenerative Sinamics S120 converters, a set of PLCs Siemens S7-1500 - based on the leading-edge AIC RACS technology - and an HMI system with its SQL based recipe database.
Rounding out the package, basic engineering and support for erection and commissioning will be included by Automazioni Industriali Capitanio.
As a result of this agreement, Pak Steel will be able to triple its long steel production capacity, enhance its notability and sustain the growth of steel demand in the country.
Thus, the tasks to turn commissioning into the mill’s operation are expected by the end of 2022.
